Rebecca Kendall is from Atlanta, Georgia, where she has lived most of her life. From an early age, she developed a love for the written word, spending most of her free time diving into the fictional worlds of great literature. The works of Jane Austen, Jules Verne, the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson, as well as many others, sparked her love for fairytales and fiction, stories like Howard Pyle’s Robin Hood and William Goldman’s The Princess Bride landing high on the list of her favorites. Focusing on the characters behind the scenes inspired Rebecca to create her own spell-binding tales of fantastic adventure. A Rose With Thorns is Rebecca’s first book.

  All About Me

I have always loved stories. The trials faced, the battles fought, the happiness won. Every element, every detail of those worlds folded into the pages of every book fed the part of my heart that could not help but walk beside characters who would never know me. Those who could not hear me cheering on their success, crying for their loses, and screaming in upset at the danger I saw coming from miles away but that they saw too late. With every book I read, I become a part of those characters' fictional lives, and they become a very real part of mine. In tackling my first work, I wanted to create characters that touched the lives of others as my favorite characters have touched mine. I wanted them to be multi-dimensional so that every reader could see some part of theirselves in words.

The story of A Rose with Thorns began some ten years ago. It started as all great stories do; I had a dream. However, the initial chapters of my first draft looked nothing like the epic tales I loved to read. Being the very young and inexperienced writer I was, I feared that the story had grown stale before it had truly begun. The project was shelved for many years, only pulled out for the occasional re-read. It wasn't until I experienced a real life plot twist of my own that writing became a serious and desperate focus. In the pages of this tale, one can find the breadcrumbs of my journey to piece my life back together in the aftermath of a world-shattering event. It is my hope that the winding path to healing and understanding that I found for myself might serve as a welcome comfort to those who follow.
